Huge finds, small city, Durand is auctioning off classic vehicles present in a constructing within the metropolis heart

(WREX) – What began with the simple purchase of a building by the village of Durand has become a treasure in its own right.

The owner of a building at the end of Durand’s business district before the village took it over piled it full of antiques, auto parts, furniture and three vehicles from 1959. After the village acquired the property, the guides were shocked at what they found . The village says the owner got them as a project in the 1980s, so they have been untouched for more than thirty years.

The cars inside? A 1959 Ford Thunderbird, a 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie and a 1959 Ford Club Wagon ambulance.

“It was pretty nice to see the classic cars being pulled out one by one,” said village president Sheila Hoffman.

The village is now selling the cars through a local nonprofit called Durand Charm.
