New 50mpg Vehicles, Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV, Fisker in Wisconsin, Nio Battery Change: As we speak’s Automobile Information

Fisker and Foxconn have confirmed they are speaking with Wisconsin as a potential manufacturing base for Fisker’s $ 30,000 electric vehicle – though a number of broken promises from Foxconn could stand in the way.

The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio is the only car manufacturer in the world that has had some success with changing batteries in its business model. Based on comments from its president last week, Nio plans to continue battery swaps with 4,000 global stations through 2025 – and this could prove to be a major void for city owners even as charging networks grow.

The Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid 2022 is the brand’s first plug-in SUV and will hit US dealerships in early August. Given last week’s teasing of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, a rival, we’ve rounded up what the Santa Fe PHEV presents, including 31 all-electric miles and a hybrid mode rating of 33 mpg combined.

And over the weekend we looked at the rapidly rising gasoline price, which will continue into summer and maybe beyond. If a plug-in is just not an option for your household, we’ve rounded up the popular new cars that collectively achieve 50 mpg or more based on EPA ratings. So much the better, they all start at less than $ 30,000.
