Prime India Automotive Information of the Week: Tata Darkish Version and 2021 Vary Rover Evoque launched, Hyundai Venue and Ford Endeavor Variant revisions and extra

The highlights of the past week include new launches, variant revisions of two SUVs and the price increase of a popular Mahindra SUV

New introductions

Tata Dark Editions: Tata introduced Dark Editions from Nexon, Nexon EV and Altroz. While the Harrier Dark Edition was already on sale, the automaker has reissued it with a few minor tweaks. All Dark Edition models are blackened inside and out and have a premium over their corresponding standard counterparts.

Range Rover Evoque 2021: Land Rover launched the Range Rover Evoque in 2021. The updated SUV is now only offered in two flavors, and it gets a number of much-needed features that are pushing prices further north.

Land Rover Defender 90: While the Defender 110 was launched in India in October 2020, Land Rover has now launched the Defender 90, a shorter wheelbase version only available as a three-door model. In addition, Land Rover has silently introduced a 3-liter mild hybrid turbo gasoline engine for both body styles. Click here to check the variant-related prices.

Updates from automakers

Citroens Sub-4m SUV: Citroen is one of the brands that want a piece of the pie with their SUV under 4 m. Although its Diwali SUV was expected to hit the market in 2021, the automaker’s latest announcement means we won’t see it anytime soon.

Jeep’s EV plans revealed: The parent company of Jeep, Stellantis, recently informed us of its plans to introduce electric vehicles across its product range. Currently, four Jeep models (Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Renegade and Compass) have hybrid technology on board, but the automaker has set a deadline by which all of its models will have at least one fully electric variant.

The interior of the jeep 7-seater SUV teased: The 7-seater SUV based on Compass will soon be presented overseas. Now, ahead of its official reveal, Jeep has released a video teasing its insides, showing similarities with the cabin on the 5-seater model.

Variant revisions

Hyundai Venue variants changed over to Re: To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the venue in India, Hyundai has made some revisions to the range of variants of the SUV. It brought two new equipment onto the market, but discontinued six variants, which led to a slight increase in price.

Ford Endeavor loses its base variant: Ford has canceled the previously offered base version Titanium 4×2 of the Endeavor. As a result, the full-size SUV is only available in three variants, resulting in an increased entry-level price that makes it more expensive than some of its competitors.

Price increases

Hiked Mahindra Thar Prices: The Thar was launched in October 2020 and has now received its third price increase. While the previous two price updates had cumulatively made the SUV up to Rs 40,000 more expensive, the latest sees the biggest increase to date. In addition to the price revision of the Thar, Mahindra has also increased the prices of other models.
