Synopsys Silicon Success
Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS) announced today that Achronix Semiconductor Corporation has achieved the first silicon success for its new Speedster7t FPGA with Synopsys’ comprehensive design, verification and IP solutions. Achronix selected Synopsys to meet the workload needs of its high-performance computing FPGA design with high bandwidth and artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI / ML) while accelerating time to market.
“Achronix’s new 7nm Speedster7t FPGA supports the massive amounts of data processing required for high-performance applications,” said Chris Pelosi, Achronix VP for hardware engineering. “Choosing Synopsys verification and golden signoff enabled design technologies has helped our team achieve better overall design convergence. In addition, we have accelerated our schedule by months by simply integrating the high-quality Synopsys DesignWare IP. The range of Synopsys solutions has helped us minimize design risks and meet our stringent design and time-to-market goals. “
The Synopsys DesignWare® IP portfolio helped Achronix meet the storage performance and real-time data connectivity requirements of the Speedster7t FPGA. Compared to competing solutions, the DesignWare Logic Library IP offers 4% better area and 8% better timing, which is important for high-speed designs. In addition, the DesignWare Embedded Memory IP, including dual-port SRAMs, reduced the power consumption of the Speedster7t FPGA. The DesignWare DDR4 IP offers comprehensive and comprehensive reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS). The DesignWare IP for PCI Express (PCIe) 5.0 with low latency and a data path width of 512 bits supports x16 links and offers maximum bandwidth and energy efficiency. Achronix plans to continue its longstanding relationship with Synopsys by using DesignWare IP in its next design.
The Synopsys Fusion Design Platform ™ was instrumental in helping Achronix achieve the performance required to deliver high-bandwidth, market-driven computing in both an area- and performance-constrained form factor. The unique amalgamation of test, implementation, and golden signoff technologies enabled the company to minimize design margins on a broad and systemic level, achieve better overall design convergence, and accelerate its ability to get silicon right the first time.
The Synopsys Custom Design Platform was instrumental in reducing the time and effort required to design, layout, and simulate the high-performance custom circuitry in the 7nm Speedster7t FPGA with node-specific features that improved the productivity of the designer.
Achronix has also adopted key functional verification products from the Synopsys Verification Continuum® platform to verify its FPGA. Synopsys’ VCS® simulation solution enabled accelerated simulation performance, while Verification IP enabled faster creation of the verification environment and VC SpyGlass ™ RTL static sign-off tool enabled early detection of design flaws.
“Hyperscale data center designs are constantly evolving due to the tremendous growth in Internet traffic and require a combination of high-performance, low-latency solutions to achieve total system throughput,” said John Mutt, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Strategy for IP at Synopsys. “Synopsys offers companies like Achronix the most comprehensive design, verification and IP solutions in the industry that meet the stringent r
