Rockford’s Labor Day Basic Automobile Present attracts lovers from throughout the Midwest
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Although Rockford’s annual Labor Day Parade and Davis Park picnic was canceled this year due to a spike in Covid-19 infections, the Labor Day Car Show went on as planned.
More than 150 classic cars drove into Davis Park this morning.
The Rockford Area Car Shows and Cruises hosts the show every year, and organizers said the event had good attendance on Monday, with people coming from across the Midwest to see the vehicles.
“It’s a great feeling to have been a member of the Union for 38 years and actually not marching in the parade or driving the car in the parade and still having the event when all these people come out,” said the show promoter Ron Mahnke.
The auto show doubles as a fundraiser for the United Way of the Rock River Valley.
