The bi-monthly occasion with carbohydrates, espresso and classic automobiles begins on Saturday

A new event kicks off on Saturday in the Virginia Square, Cars & Coffee area, with live music, classic cars and free donuts and coffee.

This weekend, Good Company Donuts & Cafe will provide the treats and drinks, while blues performers and Ballston Local Memphis Gold will provide entertainment.

Cars & Coffee takes place in the parking lot at 3901 Fairfax Drive and is jointly hosted by the Ballston Business Improvement District and Skanska Commercial Development. The free event takes place every second Saturday from 8-11am until August 7th.

Local auto enthusiasts can register online to exhibit their cars for the show.

Skanska bought the parking lot on Fairfax Drive in 2019 to convert it into a public space and office building. Although delays have plagued the project near the Arlington Central Library, the company plans to lay the foundation there in the near future.

“At Skanska, we create spaces that serve the community,” said Mark Carroll, executive vice president of Skanska USA Commercial Development’s local office. “We look forward to starting this journey before we even dig shovels into the ground here in Ballston.”

Ballston BID CEO Tina Leone shared Carroll’s opinion, saying she hopes the event brings people into the community and allows them to get to know their neighbors.

“It’s encouraging and exciting to see people come out, support local music, support local businesses, and just be a community again,” said Leone. “We have a strong network here in Ballston and we support each other immensely. It’s amazing to see how this happens in real time at events like Cars & Coffee. “
